Band Blast

HOT SPRINGS — The Hot Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau will present Band Blast 2014, the ninth annual event, at 3 p.m. in Hall A of the Hot Springs Convention Center. The event will feature the Hot Springs Concert Band with guest performances by The Village Big Band and The New Horizons. General admission is $7 per person and $5 for students and children. ARKADELPHIA — Ouachita Baptist University’s Pruet School of Christian Studies will co-host the fourth annual Conference on Christian Counseling at 8 a.m. in Ouachita’s Walker Conference Center. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The conference theme will focus on anxiety and related issues. The conference is open to mental-health professionals, nurses, licensed therapists, social workers, pastors and students. Prices range from $20 to $100, with lunch included in most packages. ARKADELPHIA — The Arkadelphia Arts Center’s February exhibit, Early Education in Clark County, will be on display through Friday. The exhibit takes the viewer through a pictorial history of African-American education from the mid-1800s to the present, with emphasis on the Peake Rosenwald School. Admission is free. Merry Mixers Dance Club

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — The Hot Springs Village MerryMixers dance to live music from 7:30-10:30 p.m. the first and third Saturdays of every month at the Coronado Community Center. A lesson is held at 7 p.m. on the third Saturday. Admission is $7.50 for first-Saturday dances and $10 for third-Saturday dances. Club members receive a discount for the season. HOT SPRINGS — A Rhythmic Interactive Percussion musical event takes place from 5-9 p.m. Sundays at Kenneth Adair Park, 358 Central Ave. Participation is encouraged as ensemble members pass out drums, tambourines, maracas and more to audience members.
