Light wintry precipitation foreseen this week

Light wintry precipitation is possible in Arkansas after midnight Tuesday and again late Thursday night into Friday, forecasters said Monday.

Precipitation will come in the form of light snow or flurries in the state's north and light sleet or snow in central Arkansas, National Weather Service Warning Coordination Meteorologist John Robinson said in an email. The precipitation, which shouldn't amount to much, will end by dawn Wednesday, he said.

Late Thursday into Friday morning, north Arkansas could receive some small accumulations of snow, Robinson said. Light snow or sleet is possible in central Arkansas but accumulation is unlikely, he added.

In addition, forecasters are keeping an eye on weather maps suggesting another round of wintry precipitation in north Arkansas on Sunday that could cause hazardous driving, Robinson said.
