PB police officer accused of sexual assault

A Pine Bluff police officer is on paid administrative leave after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman, authorities said.

Lt. David Price, a spokesman for the department, said police are not releasing the officer's name — or details on the allegations — while criminal and internal investigations continue.

According to a news release, the alleged sexual assault was said to have occurred Sunday.

Price said he could not say whether the victim and the officer knew each other or whether the assault was reported to have occurred while the officer was on duty.

He said he also could not release any information about the officer, including how long he has been on the force.

"We simply want to let everybody know there's something going on," Price said. "We just want to let people know we are investigating ... just to show our due diligence."

Price said police would release the officer's name and further details if the investigations result in charges being filed.
