BASKETBALL Former Razorback to speak at Tip Off Club

Former Arkansas Razorback Rickey Medlock will be the guest speaker at today’s Downtown Tip Off Club meeting at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in North Little Rock.

Lunch will be served at 11:15 a.m. and the program will begin at noon. Admission is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.

Hendrix falls short in finale

Colton Primm scored 19 points and Luke Vance had 13, but the Hendrix College men fell to Sewanee 54-51 on Sunday in Sewanee, Tenn., in its regular-season finale.

Hendrix (10-15, 4-10) will enter the Southern Athletic Association tournament as the No. 7 seed and play No. 2 Birmingham Southern at 6 p.m. Friday in Danville, Ky.

The Warriors had a chance to win Sunday, but Drew Nikolovski’s three-pointer while trailing 53-51 with 18 seconds left was off the mark.

Hendrix’ late rally tops Suwanee

Jamie Tate’s basket with 27 seconds left gave Hendrix College its first lead in 37 minutes and Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler made two free throws to give Hendrix a 58-55 victory over Suwanee on Sunday in Suwanee, Tenn.

The victory makes Hendrix (12-13, 6-8) the No. 6 seed in the Southern Athletic Association tournament and will play No. 3 Centre College at 3 p.m. on Friday in Memphis.

Tate had 12 points and 22 rebounds for Hendrix, while Neal made six three-pointers and scored 20 points.

BASEBALL Arkansas Tech beats No. 7 St. Cloud State

Patrick Castleberry went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and Arkansas Tech beat No. 7 St. Cloud State 5-4 on Sunday at Tech Field in Russellville.

Castleberry’s RBI double in the fourth gave Arkansas Tech a 1-0 lead and he later hit a two-run triple to make it 4-0. Chance Scamardo went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI for the Wonder Boys (11-3).

UAM falls in 12 innings

Arkansas-Monticello lost to Southwestern Oklahoma State 5-4 in 12 innings at Monticello.

Southwestern took the lead in the top of 12th when Arkansas-Monticello pitcher Jeff Harvill overthrew first base on a ground out allowing Chris Faulkner to score from second. Faulkner led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt.

UAM falls to 12-3 overall and 4-2 in the Great American Conference while Southwestern Oklahoma is now 4-7 and 2-4.

Hendrix beats Wabash

Thomas Weber struck out seven batters and held Wabash College to one hit as Hendrix College won 8-1 on Sunday at Warrior Field.

Matt Simmons went 3 for 5 with two runs scored for the Warriors (3-5), while Collin Radack had two hits and Ryan Ritz drove in two runs.

SOFTBALL Arkansas rallies to beat Harvard

Tied at 4 in the sixth inning, Arkansas (13-3) scored five times to defeat Harvard 9-4 Sunday at the Florida Gulf Coast Round Robin in Fort Myers, Fla.

Clarisa Navaro had a base hit to score Jayme Gee and Stephanie Canfield to put the Razorbacks up 6-4.

Grace Moll pitched six shutout innings in relief for her sixth victory of the season. She struck out 6, gave up 2 hits and did not walk anyone.

UCA drops two

Western Illinois’ Tierney Bottino’s sacrifice fly drove in the winning run to down Central Arkansas 7-6 on Sunday, then the Bears lost 6-2 to South Dakota State on the final day of the Central Arkansas Invitational in Conway.

Jessie Taylor hit two home runs while driving in five runs for the Bears in the first game. Sarah Bigel went 3 for 4 with one RBI in the second game against South Dakota State, which scored three runs in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Hendrix sweeps Dallas

Hendrix College rallied from a six-run deficit to win the first game of a doubleheader against the University of Dallas 7-6, then won the second 11-5 on Sunday at Crusader Field in Irving, Texas.

Victoria Hughes went 2 for 5 with a home run in the first game, and 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored in the second for Hendrix (2-2).

TENNIS Razorbacks sweep at home

The Arkansas men’s tennis team won nine of 12 singles matches to sweep a doubleheader with Southern Illinois-Edwardsville 6-1, 4-0 on Sunday in Fayetteville.

Hall Fess, Christian Lee and Santiago Munoz each won singles matches in both duals, while Fess also teamed with Pete Thomason for a doubles victory in the first dual.

Fess beat Nicolas Vincent 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles in the first match and 6-0, 6-4 in the second.
