Incumbents, new faces file in Pulaski County

Barry Hyde was the only candidate to file for Pulaski County judge on Monday, the first day of the filing period for those seeking office in 2014.

The filing period in Pulaski County and Arkansas’ 74 other counties ends next Monday at noon.

Hyde, 57, of North Little Rock, a Democrat in the Arkansas House of Representatives from 2007-13, is seeking election to the position now held by Buddy Villines, who said he will retire after holding the office for 24 years.

Filing for re-election Monday were Pulaski County incumbent office holders:

Janet Troutman Ward, 56, of North Little Rock, who is seeking re-election as county assessor. She is a Democrat.

Larry Crane, 64, a Democrat from Little Rock, who is seeking re-election for circuit/ county clerk.

Debra Buckner, 62, of NorthLittle Rock and a Democrat, running for re-election to the county treasurer’s position.

Doc Holladay, 62, of Little Rock, who is running for re-election as sheriff. He is a Democrat.

Also filing Monday were candidates for Pulaski County justice of the peace positions:

District 3 -Kathy Lewison, 66, of Little Rock, the incumbent office holder, a Democrat.

District 7 - Teresa Ann Coney, 54, of Little Rock, the incumbent, a Democrat.

District 10 - Robert E. Green Sr., 52, of North Little Rock, the incumbent, a Democrat.

District 11 - Sandra Prater, 59, of Jacksonville, former justice of the peace from 1999-2003, who is seeking the seat now held by 10-year Quorum Court member Bob Johnson, who has said he will run for a legislative seat. Prater is a Democrat.

District 13 - Phil Stowers, 42, of Maumelle, the incumbent, a Republican.
