Light snow forecast late Tuesday

Light snow or flurries are expected to start late Tuesday in north central Arkansas, forecasters said Tuesday.

North Arkansas should receive some patchy light snow or flurries, mainly after midnight and into dawn Wednesday, National Weather Service Warning Coordination Meteorologist John Robinson said in an email. Central Arkansas could see light snow, flurries or sleet, and some of that could stretch into south Arkansas, he said.

Light wintry precipitation is possible again Friday, especially in north Arkansas, forecasters said. Most will be light snow, but patchy sleet or freezing rain is possible, particularly in Northwest Arkansas, Robinson said. Central Arkansas may receive some flurries or pellets of sleet, he added.

A "sharp cold front" is likely to move into the state Sunday, Robinson said, adding that there's a possibility of wintry precipitation following behind it, especially for north Arkansas on Sunday night or Monday.
