Mom's boyfriend charged in toddler's battery

A 25-year-old man has been arrested after he admitted causing the "numerous significant injuries" that sent his girlfriend's toddler son to a hospital, the Bryant Police Department said Tuesday.

Daniel Grayson was watching the 2-year-old at Jessica Beggs' apartment while she was away in Little Rock, and during that time he sent her a text message saying the boy had fallen off a scooter and hit the coffee table, police said. When Beggs returned home and saw the extent of the boy's injuries, she took him to Saline Memorial Hospital and police were notified.

When investigators asked Grayson about the injuries, he admitted having caused them, Bryant police said. Details on the extent of the injuries and the child's condition weren't immediately available.

Grayson was arrested on a charge of first-degree battery; bail was set at $50,000, police said.
