MUSIC — North Little Rock prepares for a Christian music extravaganza when the Winter Jam 2014 tour comes to Verizon Arena. This year’s tour features hip-hop artist Lecrae, pop-rock group Tenth Avenue North, husband-and-wife team Love & The Outcome, American Idol alumnus Colton Dixon and more. The schedule also includes speaker Nick Hall and visual artist Jared Emerson. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the music starting at 7 p.m. Admission is a $10 donation at the door. (friday)

SCIENCE — Valentine’s Day might have passed, but there are still a few days left in the month of love to celebrate the holiday. That’s according to the Museum of Discovery, at least, which presents its Science After Dark happy hour with Science Is for Lovers: The Science of Passion. Expect demonstrations and learning booths about the science of love along with a cash bar and pizza from Damgoode Pies sold by the slice at the 21-and-up event. Science After Dark is 6-8 p.m. Admission is $5 per person or free for museum members. (wednesday)

SYMPHONY — Little Rock Wind Symphony presents a 20th anniversary celebration at 7:30 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church. The music begins with “Ecstatic Fanfare” composed by North Little Rock native Steven Bryant. Other musical guests include the Adult Choir of Second Presbyterian Church with organist Adam Savacool and director Bevan Keating. Karen Fannin conducts and shares the podium with Keating. General admission tickets at the door are $10, seniors are $8 and students are free. (thursday)

CHARITY — “Broadway Joe” Booker presents Broadway Joe’s Charity Weekend Celebration, a two-day fundraiser in honor of his 26 years at Power 92 Jams and his 58th birthday, beginning with an “old-school party” Friday at the Doubletree Hotel Little Rock from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The party continues Saturday with a live concert at 9 p.m. Tickets Friday are $15 in advance and $25 day of; Saturday tickets are $25 in advance and $35 day of. Proceeds from both nights benefit the Independent Youth Football League, an eight-team league. (friday and saturday)

BASKETBALL — The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s men’s and women’s basketball teams take on Arkansas State University at the Jack Stephens Center. Tipoff for the women’s game is at 4:30 p.m. followed by the men’s at 7 p.m. The UALR-ASU game recorded the largest attendance at Jack Stephens in 2013, filling more than 5,300 seats for the rivalry game (the center’s capacity is 5,600). Both Trojans teams fell to the Red Wolves in Jonesboro on Jan. 25. Tickets for Saturday’s games start at $7 for adults and $5 for children. (saturday)

SYMPHONY — The Haifa Symphony Orchestra makes a stop at the University of Central Arkansas’ Reynolds Performance Hall during its first tour in the United States. Audiences will recognize favorites like Mozart and Tchaikovsky at this performance directed by Maestro Xu Zohng. Tickets are $30-$40 for adults (with discounts for seniors, alumni, faculty and staff), $10 for children and free for UCA students with a current student ID. MUSIC — Get your dancing shoes ready for Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band at Juanita’s. Made up of Mary Frances “Mama Funk” on keyboards and vocals, Al “Sweet Nasty” Ingram on bass and vocals, Derrick “Dr. Ock” Johnson on trombone, JP “Smoke Machine” Miller on guitar and Lee “Insta Funk” Allen on drums, this high-energy funk band has shared the stage with well-known acts Galactic, Parliament Funkadelic and Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Music starts at 9 p.m. with opening acts yet to be announced. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 day of show. (tuesday)
