WASHINGTON - The Federal Trade Commission today accused the Central Arkansas Milk Producers Association (CAMPA) of Little Rock of conspiring to fix prices and selling terms. The commission also accused the association of coercing milk producers and handlers to purchase raw milk from CAMPA and of engaging in anti-competitive price practice. The allegations were contained in a consent order announced by the commission which called on the association to stop such practices. The commission said CAMPA has a membership of some 1,500 dairy farmers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri. In a complaint issued in 1961, the commission charged that since 1954 CAMPA has used threats and intimidations to force certain independent processors to participate in a conspiracy for the purpose of restraining or eliminating competition in the production, sale and distribution of milk in Arkansas and adjoining areas.

Coming issues, many said, include giving the government the power to negotiate drug prices with the pharmaceutical industry and allowing Americans to shop for cheaper drugs from Canadian sources.
