JONESBORO — Arkansas State University is to hold a one-day exhibition of photos from the Rohwer Japanese-American internment camp.
The photos will be on view at the Jonesboro campus at Wilson Auditorium from 1-3 p.m. March 6.
Organizers say some of the 200 black-and-white photos will be going on public view for the first time. The photographs depict camp life and artists among its residents at work. The Butler Center for Arkansas Studies in Little Rock earlier hosted an exhibition of artwork created by Japanese-Americans who were held at the camp in southeast Arkansas.
Professor Sarah Wilkerson Freeman and ASU history students will be on hand to discuss their research on the affected families.
The camp was one of two in Arkansas and held more than 8,000 people.
