Randolph County OKs bonds for poultry plant

POCAHONTAS — Officials in Randolph County have signed an agreement with Peco Foods Inc. allowing up to $135 million in revenue bonds for a new poultry plant in northeast Arkansas.

The Jonesboro Sun reports that Randolph County Judge David Jansen signed the agreement at a public meeting Thursday. Peco Foods Chief Operating Officer Benny Bishop attended the meeting but declined to offer details of the project.

But Bishop says a formal announcement is coming soon.

No details have been confirmed about the planned poultry plant. According to its website, Peco Foods is the eighth largest poultry producer in the United States. The company has processing plants in Alabama, Mississippi and another in Batesville.
