LR police respond to 121 gunshot calls during New Year’s festivities

Authorities in Little Rock were somewhat busy Tuesday night and Wednesday morning as they fielded calls about various issues including gunshots being heard, fireworks going off and also made several alcohol-related traffic stops as part of their New Year’s patrol.

According to a statement from Little Rock Police Department spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen, officers responded to a total of 121 calls of shots being fired around the city in a two-day span — 69 on Tuesday and 52 on Wednesday.

Things were very tempered otherwise, with authorities receiving a total of three calls for loud parties, seven for loud music and eight fireworks violations, according to Allen. All eight fireworks calls came Tuesday.

Allen added that a total of three arrests were made for motorists driving under the influence and there were no reports of any alcohol related accidents between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Allen added that these numbers could change as more reports come in.
