Bono council to discuss firing of police chief

BONO — City officials in Bono are planning to meet to discuss the town's police chief, who was fired last week.

Bono city leaders are meeting Thursday to discuss the firing of former Police Chief Robert Jones. Mayor Billy Stephens told The Jonesboro Sun that he fired Jones last week for insubordination.

The Bono City Council meets at 6 p.m. Thursday to decide whether to support the mayor's decision or reinstate Jones as the town's police chief.

Chris Patrick is serving as Bono's police chief in the interim. He declined to comment on the situation but said he'll do his best to keep the department running until a decision is reached.
