I-40 in St. Francis County to see overnight lane closures

Bridge work will necessitate overnight lane closures on Interstate 40 in northeast St. Francis County starting Monday, highway officials said Thursday.

Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department officials said a crew will be removing a safety platform from the new Arkansas 149 bridge, which spans I-40, and then install the platform on the old bridge.

Both bridges are at mile marker 260, east of Shell Lake.

Crews will also paint the new bridge if the weather cooperates, the department said. The work will occasionally narrow eastbound and westbound traffic to one lane, highway officials said.

The lane closures will run between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night, starting Monday, and will last about two weeks, the department said.

Drivers will be alerted with warning signs and traffic barrels, officials added
