Little Rock Zoo names 4 new tiger cubs

LITTLE ROCK — The four new tiger cubs at the Little Rock Zoo have been named.

The zoo held a contest for members of the public to name the four Malayan tiger cubs born in November. The zoo said it received more than 500 entries.

Zoo officials said the three male tigers were named Liem, Eko and Olan. The female tiger cub was named Asmara.

The four cubs were born last year to 5-year-old Suhana and 9-year-old Liku. The two are Malayan tigers, which are critically endangered with fewer than 500 species remaining in the wild.

The zoo said the new tiger cubs are doing well and will go on exhibit in the early spring.
