Parts of Northwest Arkansas are experiencing low temperatures and cold winds, the National Weather Service in Little Rock said.

Areas in Northwest Arkansas are experiencing low temperatures and cold winds Thursday morning, while other parts of the state may receive light winter precipitation, the National Weather Service said in a statement.

Forecasters say cities in Northwest Arkansas — including Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers and Van Buren — have low temperatures ranging from the single digits to about 20 degrees. Some areas will receive north winds of about 10 to 15 miles per hour, with some gusts reaching about 25 miles per hour.

In eastern Arkansas, light winter precipitation will continue through mid-morning hours Thursday, the weather service said. Areas north of Interstate 40 can expect light snow, while areas south of I-40 will see a mix of light rain and snow.

Bridges and overpasses will be most affected from the winter precipitation, according to the weather service.

Another cold front will sweep the state starting late Saturday evening, bringing another around of winter weather, forecasters said. Again, light winter precipitation is expected.

North Arkansas can expect to see temperatures that are below freezing into next week, the weather service said.

"Overnight lows will be in the single digits to the teens," forecasters said.

A flood warning continues to be in effect for areas near the Ouachita River. The weather service recommends motorists not to drive through flooded areas and to be alert to changing weather forecasts.

A lake wind advisory — which indicates that winds will cause a "rough chop on area lakes" — remains in effect for the majority of the state until 6 p.m. Thursday evening.
