A Monticello man is dead after police said his vehicle struck the back of another truck, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash report.

The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m. Friday in clear conditions in Drew County, the report states.

Police said a 1996 Freightliner truck was turning south on the Midway Route when a 2004 Chevrolet vehicle crashed into the truck's rear.

Mark Pevey, 25, was the driver of the Chevrolet vehicle, authorities said. His death marks the second fatality in traffic accidents on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary reports.
