Alison Leigh Lohse and Jesse Lee Hughes were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Little Rock Marriott. Judge Sam Bird officiated.

Parents of the bride are Cindy and William Lohse of Fort Smith. Her grandparents are Mary Sue Shavey and the late Dave Shavey, both of Byron, Ga., and Jane and Robert Lohse of Prairie Village, Kan.

The groom is the son of Jackie and Dennis Hughes of Texarkana, Texas. He is the grandson of Christine Hughes and the late Delbert Hughes, the late Helen Merrell and the late James Fagan, all also of Texarkana.

Swags of white hydrangeas, white tulips, white stock, sprengeri and boxwood decorated the ceremony site. Music was by the Jarboe String Quartet.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a mermaid-style gown with an overlay of tulle embellished with guipure appliques. She carried a bouquet of red roses.

Matron of honor was Isabelle Morgan of Addison, Texas. Bridesmaids were Sarah Foss of San Francisco; Sarah St. Amour-Byrd of Little Rock; Dr. Stephanie McMenamy of New York; and Trisha Smith of Texarkana, Texas. They wore apple-red sleeveless chiffon gowns and carried bouquets of white hydrangeas, vendella roses, white tulips, white dendrobium orchids and white stock accented with gold leaves.

Flower girl was Taylor Smith of Texarkana, Texas.

Best man was Jared Buffington of Texarkana, Texas. Groomsmen were Sky Ashley of Maud, Texas; Matt Lohse of San Francisco, brother of the bride; Dustin Hughes and Matt Smith, both of Texarkana, Texas, and cousins of the groom.

A reception, also at the Marriott, followed the ceremony. Tables were decorated with arrangements of red roses, orchids, tulips and dianthus and gold mercury glass votive candle holders.

The bride is a cum laude graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis and has a bachelor’s degree in biology. She was a member of Chi Omega and captain of the women’s varsity swim team. She graduated with honors and a doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she was a member of Rho Chi. She is a pharmacist with Walgreens.

The groom has a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, and will graduate in the spring with a master’s degree in business administration. He is a territory manager for BWI Companies Inc.

The couple will live in Little Rock and plan a summer wedding trip to Alaska.
