Anthea Marie Horn and Matthew Mehran Johnson exchanged marriage vows at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, in Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in North Little Rock. Clarence Boyd officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Teresa and Charles Waits of North Little Rock and Pamela and Clayborn Johnson of Little Rock. She is the granddaughter of Dorothy Horn, also of Little Rock.

The groom is the son of Minoo Johnson of Moorpark, Calif., and Melvin Johnson of Camarillo, Calif. He is the grandson of Aziz Hagighat of Tehran, Iran.

The chancel held an arrangement of red gladioli framed by a collar of red ostrich plumes. Music was by pianist Brandon Murphy and vocalists Adrienne Collens and Nicholas Croom.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a Vera Wang fit-and-flare gown with a draped halter-style bodice and a sequin-embellished organza and tulle skirt with a sweep train. She carried a jeweled brooch bouquet.

Jonathan Hunter of Little Rock served as the bride’s honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Crystal Washington, Ashley Young and Tonia and Alida Wilson, cousins of the bride, all of Little Rock; and Erin Tank of Conway. The bridesmaids wore black illusion cocktail-length dresses embellished with charmeuse trim and a brooch at the Empire waistlines.

Flower girls were Jayden Cole of Little Rock, cousin of the bride; Soie Waits of North Little Rock, sister of the bride; and Taylor Tank of Conway. Bell ringers were Bryana Silas and Kaitlyn Shivers, both of Little Rock.

Junior bride and groom were Alesha Waits, sister of the bride, and Tarryn Wilson, both of North Little Rock.

Josh Gates of Chatsworth, Calif., was best man. Groomsmen were Aaron Johnson, brother of the bride, and Chris Kane and Robert Burton, all of Little Rock; John Mallick of Pittsburgh; and Damien McDaniel of Dallas, cousin of the bride.

Guests were seated by Charleskadrik Waits of Little Rock and Charles Waits of North Little Rock, brothers of the bride.

A reception at the Doubletree hotel followed the ceremony. Guest tables alternated centerpieces of tall vases filled with black and white ostrich plumes with cylinder vases holding submerged orchids and topped with floating candles. The sweetheart table was centered with a cascading arrangement of red roses, orchids and red feather plumes.

The bride has a bachelor’s degree in education from Arkansas State University at Jonesboro; a master’s degree in counseling from Harding University in Searcy; and is working toward a doctorate in behavioral health at Arizona State University in Tempe. She is a psychiatric therapist.

The groom has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from California State University at Northridge. A former reporter at KATV, Channel 7, the groom is a news reporter at KFMB-TV, Channel 8, in San Diego.

After a wedding trip to San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, the couple will make their home in San Diego.
