HomeStyle: New regulations put old bulbs in the dark

This article was published January 10, 2014 at 10:43 a.m.

Say goodbye to the old-style light bulb.

On Jan. 1, the last of the federal government’s new lighting standards took effect. That means the sort of general-service light bulb we’ve used for more than a century can no longer be made in or imported into the United States.

What does that mean for you? Lots of label reading and smaller electric bills. See Saturday’s Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for the lowdown on the new lights.
