Ice helps deputies make arrest

Icy conditions helped authorities make an arrest Thursday when a suspect attempted to flee but slipped and fell in a slick spot, according to an arrest report.

The Pulaski County sheriff's office said deputies went to 8200 Lacey Road west of Little Rock about noon Thursday to investigate a reported disturbance.

A woman on scene told investigators the suspect, a resident of that address, had run into the woods and deputies then spotted him in the "woodline," the report said.

"The suspect attempted to flee into the woods but slipped on ice and fell," deputies wrote in the report. "The suspect was taken into custody but refused to stop yelling and cursing."

The man, identified as 28-year-old Charles Merriweather, was booked into the Pulaski County jail on charges of disorderly conduct and fleeing on foot.

He was no longer listed as an inmate in the jail Friday morning. A Feb. 11 court date is set.
