North Little Rock police said an 18-year-old man was shot multiple times in his vehicle after someone had tried to rob him early Saturday morning.

About 1:40 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting that occurred behind a building located at 1721 N. Main St., the department's spokesman Sgt. Brian Dedrick said.

When police arrived, they found Jerod Crutchfield, 18, sitting in the driver's seat of his vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Three other boys were also inside of Crutchfield's vehicle, Dedrick said. They were not injured in the shooting.

Dedrick said that someone had walked up to Crutchfield's vehicle and demanded everything Crutchfield had. Crutchfield had a gun, and police believe that he had "tried to defend himself but was shot by [the] suspect in the process," Dedrick said.

Crutchfield was taken to UAMS Medical Center to be treated for his gunshot wounds and was last known to be in stable condition, according to Dedrick.

Lots of possibilities concerning this case. Most likely a drug deal gone bad.
