Man shot to death in LR identified

Little Rock police Tuesday identified a man who was found fatally shot on a Little Rock street the night before.

Officers responded to a shooting about 8:30 p.m. Monday near West 31st and South Cross streets to find Jermaine Humphrey, 24, of Little Rock sprawled on his back on South Cross just north of West 31st.

"He had blood coming from his head from a gunshot," according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

The shooting was precipitated by an argument over a woman, witnesses told police. Antwon Bryant, 24, of Little Rock said he had met up with Humphrey to settle a "beef" over a woman when Rodterius Gardner, 20, "starting running his mouth," according to the report.

Humphrey saw that Gardner had a gun and told his aunt, who owns the house, police said.

One witness told police that his mother told Gardner to leave, at which point the altercation escalated, becoming physical to the point that Gardner ran from the house and Humphrey followed him, according to the report. Witnesses heard gunfire, and Humphrey was found shot a short time later, the report states.

Police said they took in all witnesses for questioning and are still looking for Gardner.
