Suspect in Monday homicide in LR turns himself in

A man who, police say, is a primary suspect in the shooting death of another Little Rock man turned himself in to police Wednesday afternoon.

Rodterius Gardner, 20, surrendered to Little Rock police at 3:30 p.m., according to a statement from Little Rock Police Department spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen.

Allen said he will be charged with first-degree murder.

Police have named Gardner as a suspect in the death of Jermaine Humphrey, 24, who died after being shot in the head during an altercation Monday night.

Another man, Antwon Bryant, 24, met with Humphrey that night to purportedly settle a dispute over a woman at a residence at 1206 W. 31st St., police said. A physical altercation eventually occurred, and at one point Gardner, who Bryant said had a gun on him at the time, ran out of the house. Humphrey chased Gardner and was found shot a short time later on South Cross Street, police say.
