Our Town Campaign Kick-Off

SEARCY — The Our Town Campaign Committee will hold a campaign kickoff event in support of the 1 percent sales tax. The event will be held from 10-10:30 a.m. today at the Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce, 2323 S. Main St. Community members and media representatives are encouraged to attend. ASU-Beebe Spring Theater Auditions

BEEBE — Auditions for the Arkansas State University-Beebe 2014 spring theater productions will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 16 and 17 in the Owen Center Theater at ASU-Beebe. Spring productions will include Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen, directed by Bruce Cohen and performed March 7-9; and The Odd Couple (Female Version), adapted by Neil Simon, and directed by Don Eller and presented April 25-27. The auditions are open to community members; being an ASU-Beebe student is not a requirement. Those auditioning may perform a prepared monologue, or readings from the script will be provided. AARP Driver Safety Program

HEBER SPRINGS — There will be an AARP Driver Safety Program class from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the McCoy Room of the Administration/Student Services Building at Arkansas State University-Heber Springs. On completion of the course, individuals 55 and older will qualify for a three-year discount on their automobile-insurance premiums in Arkansas. The cost of the class is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. Fees may be paid in cash or by check (payable to AARP). Free Community Wellness Event

BEEBE — The Beebe Church of Christ, 1906 W. Center St., will provide wellness screenings and community resources, all at no cost, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church. The event is open to the public. Health professionals will provide eyeglass fittings and glasses, blood-pressure and blood-sugar checks, skin evaluations, hearing tests, assistance with diabetes and more. Jewelry Exhibit

ASH FLAT — Jewelry by artist Jane Hodge of Cherokee Village is on display at the Ash Flat Library through January. The exhibit, in the case in the sitting room/reading area of the library, includes earrings, pendants, necklaces and bracelets. NCA District Fair Scholarship

The North Central Arkansas District Fair offers the Billy Ray Nix Memorial Scholarship and the NCA District Fair scholarship to graduating seniors in the seven-county district fair area. Students in Cleburne, Fulton, Independence, Izard, Sharp, Stone and Van Buren counties who have participated in county, district or state fairs and meet the scholarship criteria are eligible to apply. Scholarship applications are available at www.ncadistrictfair.org. Completed applications must be received by the NCA District Fair by March 1.

WISE Coalition Meetings

Pastel Paintings

LITTLE ROCK — Two pastel paintings by Anne Lyon of Cabot are on view through Feb. 22 in the Arkansas Pastel Society’s fifth National Juried Exhibition, Reflections in Pastel, at the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, 401 President Clinton Ave. in Little Rock. Art Exhibition

BATESVILLE — The Batesville Area Arts Council presents a group exhibition, Friends of the Batesville Area Arts Council, at the BAAC Gallery on Main, 246 E. Main St., through Friday. The show features 20 artists who were invited to be part of the exhibition for their involvement with the organization and the support they have shown to BAAC over the years. The artwork is for sale.

Exercise Class

Craft Night

Souper Bowl Saturday

BATESVILLE — The Batesville Area Arts Council’s annual Souper Bowl Saturday fundraiser will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 1 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, at the corner of Main and Fifth streets. Individuals can support the arts in the community by purchasing soup to take home, made by local businesses and residents. Tickets are $7 in advance for a quart of soup or $8 at the event.
