Man killed in southwest LR shooting identified

Little Rock police Saturday identified a man who was found fatally shot on a southwest Little Rock street the night before.

Police say Thomas Gilbert, 31, of Little Rock, died shortly after three men opened fire at Gilbert and Little Rock resident Terrence Brison, 32, while they were sitting in a parked truck at 7414 Mabelvale Pike, according to a Little Rock Police Department Report. Authorities pronounced Gilbert dead at the scene.

According to the report, officers also arrived about 9:37 p.m. at 7212 Shetland Drive after the home's owner called and reported a shooting. Police found Brison inside the home, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his back and left arm. He was taken by MEMS to St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, which police said were non-life-threatening.

Brison told officers that he had ran to the residence looking for help after three "short, heavy set" armed men had shot at him and Gilbert while they were sitting inside the parked truck on Mabelvale Pike, the report states. Brison said the shooters opened fire after they had stolen Brison's wallet.

The shooters are all described as black males standing about 5-foot-5, weighing about 200 pounds and between 22 and 25 years old, the report states. They were last seen traveling in a dark-colored Toyota Corolla.
