Burn bans issued in 6 Arkansas counties

More counties in Arkansas have issued burn bans because of low humidity levels and winds.

Burn bans are in effect in Van Buren, Stone and Independence counties in northern Arkansas, Franklin County in western Arkansas and Perry and Garland counties in central Arkansas.

The National Weather Service says the fire risk is moderate across Arkansas. A cold front will move through the state later Monday, but dry, windy conditions are expected to persist.

Forecasters say winds of 5 mph to 10 mph are possible Monday with humidity levels at 20 percent to 30 percent. The weather service is discouraging any outdoor burning.
