100 YEARS AGO Jan. 21, 1914 DERMOTT — As the result of an ordinance against stock running at large, Mayor W. J. Rayburn fined Eli Dante, a merchant and business man here, $25 and costs when his cow got loose by jumping the fence. Dante argued that he could not help the habits of the cow, but was fined anyway. He appealed to the Circuit Court.
