Vaught announces re-election effort

Arkansas Court of Appeals Judge Larry Vaught said Tuesday that he will seek re-election in November.

Vaught, 66, was first elected to the state’s second-highest court in 2000 and was re-elected in 2006. He represents District 6, Position 2, which includes Pulaski, Perry and Saline counties.

“It has been an honor serving the people of Arkansas on the Court of Appeals and I look forward to serving another term,” Vaught said in a statement.

Vaught, a former public school teacher, deputy prosecuting attorney and municipal judge, was chief judge from 2009-13. Vaught has no announced challenger.
