Bodies found in Pope County fire identified

The Pope County sheriff's office said Thursday that DNA has confirmed the identities of two bodies found in a fire last week.

The agency identified them as 45-year-old Billy Allen and 28-year-old Patricia Meadows.

The bodies were found Jan. 16 after crews extinguished a fire at a structure on Arkansas 7 north of Dover.

The sheriff's office said previously they believed they knew the identities of the bodies but would not release the information until it was confirmed by the state Crime Laboratory.

Sheriff Aaron DuVall said in a statement earlier this week that the deaths are considered homicides.
