I-40 work near NLR postponed

Research work on Interstate 40 that had been planned for Friday near North Little Rock has been postponed, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

The work has been delayed because of illness and will be rescheduled, department spokesman Jeff Whatley said.

Crews set to perform drilling operations to test the soil beneath the driving surface had been planning to shut the westbound, inside lane between mile markers 145 and 146, which is just west of the I-40/1-430 interchange.

The work is planned in preparation for widening I-40 to six lanes between Arkansas 365 and I-430. This includes modifying the Interstate 430 interchange. This work is scheduled for bid later this year, the department said.
