Former Virginia Gov. McDonnell, wife plead innocent

RICHMOND, Va. — Former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and his wife have pleaded innocent to federal corruption charges.

Bob and Maureen McDonnell entered the pleas during a court hearing Friday. Their jury trial has been set for July 28.

Earlier in the day, both were released on their own recognizance as they await trial. A federal magistrate judge ordered them not to leave the country.

The former Republican governor and his wife were indicted on 14 counts Tuesday after a lengthy federal investigation of his relationship with the former CEO of a dietary supplement maker.
