I-40 lane closure in NLR delayed

Research work on Interstate 40 requiring a lane closure today near North Little Rock has been postponed because members of the crew hired to do the work became ill, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

The crew was scheduled to perform drilling operations to test the soil beneath the driving surface, which would have required the closing of westbound inside lane between mile markers 145 and 146 just west of the I-40/1-430 interchange.

The work is being conducted in preparation for widening I-40 to six lanes between Arkansas 365 and I-430. This includes modifying the Interstate 430 interchange. This work is scheduled for bid later this year, the department said.

A new date hasn’t been set, the department said.
