Benton police seek man in store robbery

Benton police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a man suspected of robbing a store Sunday night.

About 10:37 p.m. Sunday, police responded to an aggravated robbery report at the Home Run Gas Mart, 1415 Military Road, according to a Benton Police Department statement. When officers arrived, a store employee told them that a man had walked into the business, pointed a handgun at him and demanded money.

After stealing an undisclosed amount of money, the robber fled on foot toward the area of Jameson Drive, police said.

The robber is described as a "light-skinned black male, shorter than average and with a scar on his forehead," according to the news release. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket with green on the sleeves, a "rebel" flag bandana covering his face and dark-colored pants.
