A 62-year-old man who had been shot by a Sherwood police officer Wednesday has been released from a local hospital, authorities said.

Crandle Hopson, of Sherwood, had suffered a single gunshot wound in his shoulder after a responding officer shot him shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday at a home at 106 Tenkiller Drive, the Sherwood Police Department's spokesman Sgt. Michael Payne said.

Police had been called to the home after a neighbor complained of a ā€œdomestic disturbance involving alcohol,ā€ the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.

Payne said Hopson was shot after he refused to put his weapon down and aimed it at officers. Hopson is now in "fair" condition and is being held on a $100,000 bond at the Pulaski County jail.

Hopson had been arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a family member and three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, the newspaper reported.

Payne said the officer who shot Hopson is on administrative leave, which is "customary for this type of incident," and his name is not being released at this time.

An investigation is ongoing, Payne said.
