Benton police are searching for a man who walked into a local gas station, displayed a gun and made off with money.

The Benton Police Department said the aggravated robbery occurred at 10:37 p.m. Sunday, when a man walked into the Home Run gas station, 1415 Military Road, pointed a handgun at an employee behind the counter and demanded money. He took an unknown amount of cash and fled toward Jameson Drive on foot, the Police Department said in a statement.

Benton police described the robber as a shorter-than-average, "probably" white man with a scar on his forehead. The robber was previously described as a light-skinned black man, but police revised their description upon further investigation and review of surveillance video.

He was wearing a black hooded jacket with green on the underarms and dark-colored pants. The man covered the lower part of his face with a Confederate flag bandanna, police said.

Anyone with information into this crime is asked to call the Benton Police Department at (501) 778-1171 or 315-8477 (TIPS).
