Small quakes reported near Clinton, Wynne

A pair of small earthquakes rattled different parts of Arkansas in recent days, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

A 2.6-magnitude quake was recorded shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday about 11 miles north of Wynne. And a 2.7-magnitude quake occurred about 2:15 p.m. Monday about a mile south of Clinton.

The quakes are below magnitudes that typically produce damage or injuries. Only a handful of responders reported feeling them on the survey's website.

The Arkansas Geological Survey says about a dozen small earthquakes have been reported around the state so far this year, with none of them exceeding a 2.7-magnitude.
