Arkansas lawmakers plan midnight session votes

Arkansas lawmakers are preparing to pull an all-nighter as they near the end of this week's special legislative session.

House and Senate leaders said they planned to meet at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday to hold what's expected to be the final votes on measures addressing teacher insurance premiums, prison overcrowding and new lottery restrictions. The move would allow the Legislature to wrap up the session in the minimum three days required under law.

The session began Monday and was called to address the three issues. Both chambers planned to hold their first votes on the measures Tuesday afternoon.

This is the second time in the past year lawmakers have met at midnight. They conducted similar late night votes for a special session called last year to address teacher insurance.
