Chris Curry has been hired as the head baseball coach at UALR.

Curry has spent the last two seasons as pitching coach at Northwestern State (La.). He was previously head coach for two seasons at Meridian (Miss.) Community College and served as a volunteer coach at Arkansas in 2009 and 2010.

The Conway native played at Mississippi State and Meridian, and spent seven seasons in the Cubs' minor league system. Curry replaces Scott Norwood, who resigned last month amid allegations of rules violations and the release of a profanity-laced audio recording attributed to Norwood following a UALR home game.
