Korey Brown is accused of raping a 22-year-old woman inside her car and stealing the vehicle. The woman told police that about 4:15 a.m. Jan. 22, she was leaving a Little Rock bar “moderately intoxicated” and a man entered her vehicle, according to a court affidavit.

The woman “could not remember fully” the details of the incident but said he ended up driving her car and that he hit her in the face when she tried to escape, according to the affidavit. The man purportedly drove to an unknown location in North Little Rock and raped her before driving away in her car.

The woman, who police reported had several bruises and cuts on her body, was taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment.

Little Rock police officers later spotted the stolen car being driven on the wrong side of East Eighth Street near Rock Street. After being stopped, the driver escaped on foot.

Investigators recovered DNA from the vehicle that was later matched to Brown, 37. He was arrested in a separate sexual assault March 3. Details of that purported attack were unavailable.

In the two attacks, Brown is charged with three counts of rape and kidnapping, two counts of aggravated robbery and theft of property, second-degree terroristic threatening and possessing instruments of crime.

He remained in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of a $750,000 bond late Monday.

Apartment complex shooting injures one

Police are investigating a shooting that injured one person at a Little Rock apartment complex Sunday afternoon.

An officer on Sanford Drive heard several gunshots at the nearby Warren House Apartments, 2000 Reservoir Road, about 3:41 p.m.

He and other officers responded to the complex and found 20-year-old Willie Johnson lying on the floor in a hallway. Johnson had been shot in the buttocks. He was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock with nonlife-threatening injuries, police reported.

Witnesses told police that Johnson had been arguing with a man who pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots, according to a police report. Further circumstances of the confrontation were unclear.

Four bullet casings were recovered by investigators. One of the bullets entered an apartment occupied by three people, according to the report. No one inside was injured.

Police identified the suspected shooter as Shykwan Franklin, 19. He’s described as a 5-foot-3, 126-pound black male with several tattoos. He was last known to reside at 2000 Parkway Drive in North Little Rock.

No arrests had been made late Monday.

4 at home remodel robbed at gunpoint

Four people renovating a Little Rock rental home were held at gunpoint inside the residence and robbed Sunday night.

Officers responded shortly before 10 p.m. to a one-story house at 8320 W. 39th St., where the owner, Eric Caffey, had arrived to discuss repair plans with the workers.

Caffey told police that when he opened the door, two men inside pointed guns at him and he fled, according to a police report. He told police that the suspects followed him, and he heard about six gunshots as he ran away.

No injuries were reported.

Two workers told investigators that about 15 minutes before Caffey arrived, they were forced inside the residence by a suspect with a handgun. Two other workers were already inside being held by a second suspect armed with what the victims described as an AK-47 rifle, according to the report.

The suspects took cash, cigarettes and keys from the workers. One worker told police that it seemed like the suspects had been watching the home and Caffey.

One of the suspects — described as a 5-foot-11, 130-pound black man between 24 and 27 years old — wore a black hoodie that obscured his face.

The other suspect, believed to be about the same age, is described as a 5-foot-5, 120-pound black man.

An investigation is ongoing.

Man faces battery charges in shooting

A man accused of shooting his wife’s friend after the two left a Little Rock nightclub together was arrested Friday.

Cody Burns, 47, was charged with first-degree battery and two counts of committing a terroristic act. He purportedly shot Chad Hobbs in the 1100 block of South Victory Street on June 23.

Hobbs and Burns’ wife, Stacy, were sitting in her truck when Cody Burns drove up in a Cadillac, exited the vehicle and opened fire, according to a police report. Hobbs, 42, was struck twice. He and Stacy Burns later identified Cody Burns as the shooter, according to police.

The three had been together at 50/50 Sports Den, 4308 Asher Ave., earlier that night. Hobbs and Stacy Burns told investigators that they left together to discuss cars, according to a court affidavit. They told police that they were considering buying a car for Cody Burns as a gift, according to the affidavit.

Hobbs’ condition was unknown late Monday. He was being treated at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary.
