Woman shot in Jacksonville

A woman suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening in a shooting in Jacksonville on Wednesday.

Police were called about 11:30 a.m. after witnesses reported that the woman was running down the street with a gunshot wound she suffered in the Galloway Park area, the Jacksonville Police Department said in a statement.

She was transported to a local hospital.

Jacksonville Police Department spokesman April Kiser said the investigation is ongoing. She said the details of how the shooting unfolded remained unclear and it wasn't known whether investigators were seeking a specific suspect.

The name and age of the injured woman was not released.
