Campaigns make last push before petition deadline

LITTLE ROCK — Supporters of proposals to raise Arkansas' minimum wage, legalize marijuana and expand alcohol sales are making a last push to gather signatures to qualify for the ballot as they near next week's petition deadline.

Groups behind the four ballot initiatives said Thursday that they're still gathering and counting signatures before next week's deadline to submit to the secretary of the state's office. Monday is the deadline for the groups to submit their petitions.

The measures include proposed initiated acts to gradually raise Arkansas' minimum wage and legalize medical marijuana, and proposed constitutional amendments to completely legalize marijuana and to allow statewide alcohol sales.

The proposed constitutional amendments need at least 78,133 signatures from registered voters to qualify for the ballot. The proposed initiated acts require at least 62,507 signatures.
