Competition winner Young set to make a splash at park

Nashville Star winner Chris Young will perform Saturday night at Magic Springs & Crystal Falls Water and Theme Park.

Young won the USA Network reality music series in 2006. He released a self-titled album, which contained two hit singles: "Drinkin' Me Lonely" and "You're Gonna Love Me." His follow-up album, The Man I Want to Be, contained the singles "Voices," "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)" and the title cut -- all of which were No. 1 hits.

Young's third album, Neon, contained two more No. 1 singles: "Tomorrow" and "You."

Aaron Owens, a Hot Springs native, will open the show at 7 p.m.

There will also be a 3 p.m. pre-concert party at the Hideaway area within the park, where there will be entertainment by Hot Springs native Blane Howard, plus appetizers from Trejo's, two drinks, early entry into the concert amphitheater and a chance to win a "meet and greet" with Young. Admission to the party is $20.

Admission (including lawn seating) is $54.99 the day of the concert, $49.99 online, $33.99 for children shorter than 48 inches and adults 55 and older, free for children 3 and younger. Juanita's will host "Indie Music Night" at 9 p.m. today. Admission is $10.

Randall Shreve & the Sideshow will make the trek from its Fayetteville base to Stickyz Rock 'n' Roll Chicken Shack for a Friday night show. The group began making a documentary, Rock and Roll Circus, with filmmaker Matt Wolfe in October. The Fable & the Fury will open the 9 p.m. show. Admission is $6.

Fly Golden Eagle will perform at 9 p.m. Saturday. Ben Trimble formed the Nashville, Tenn.-based band after starting solo with taped accompaniment. Cover charge is $7.

Bombay Harambee will host a four-band event at 9 p.m. today at the White Water Tavern. Swampbird, May the Peace of the Sea Be With You and Monsterheart will open the show. Admission is $6.

Velvet Kente returns to the club Saturday night. The Little Rock band (which refers to itself as a collective) consists of lead singer Joshua, bassist/keyboard player/vocalist Tim Anthony and drummer Jamaal Lee. Admission to the 10 p.m. show is $7.

Friday, the Rev Room will host a Ras Levi reggae event: One Love's Sizzlin' Summer Jam. Opening the show will be Mike Walker, Tricia Reed and Darril "Harp" Edwards. Tickets to the 8 p.m. show are $10 in advance, $12 day of.

Maxine's in Hot Springs will present an experimental show tonight at 9 by Hikes, a Texas band. Admission is free.

At 9 p.m. Friday, the club will host Ben Knight and the Welldiggers, an Ohio country rock and folk band. Admission is $5.

And Saturday, the club will present a trio of rock bands: Tennessee band The Grayces and Arkansas bands Corporate Giants and The Federalis. Admission to the 9 p.m. show is $5.
