A Lexa man was killed Sunday when the minivan he was driving veered off a Phillips County highway and hit a tree, authorities said.
It happened about 10:25 a.m. as David L. Anderson, 65, was driving a 2000 Honda Odyssey west on Arkansas 44 in Lake View, a small city that sits about 15 miles southwest of Helena-West Helena.
Arkansas State Police say the Odyssey went off the right side of the highway and hit a culvert before veering back onto the road and off the other side. It reportedly then went into a ditch and hit a tree.
Anderson died at the scene.
It wasn't clear what caused the crash. Conditions at the time were described as clear and dry.
The death was 212th in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
