A Texarkana man who in March pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute meth was sentenced Wednesday to 11 years and six months in prison, U.S. Attorney Connor Eldridge said in a statement.
U.S. District Court Judge Susan O. Hickey handed down the sentence for Marcus Floyd, 44, and ruled him to be a "career offender" because of his previous convictions in Miller County, which include engaging in a criminal gang, terroristic act, felon in possession of a firearm and aggravated assault, the news release states. Floyd, who also goes by "Fifty," will also have three years of supervised release following his prison term.
At the time of his arrest, Floyd admitted to officers in a post-Miranda statement that he had received "dealer quantities of methamphetamine" and was found to have $6,000 in his pocket, Eldridge said.
