Man charged in Houston-area slayings, 6 dead

SPRING, Texas — A suspect in a Houston-area shooting rampage that left six people dead and one hurt has been charged with capital murder in the apparent domestic dispute.

The Harris County sheriff's office said Ronald Lee Haskell was booked Thursday on a capital murder/multiple murders charge and held without bail.

Online records don't list an attorney for Haskell, who surrendered Wednesday night in Spring.

Authorities believe Haskell fatally shot two adults and four of his children and critically wounded his 15-year-old daughter, who called 911.

The slain children include two boys ages 4 and 14, plus two girls age 7 and 9. Also killed were a man and a woman. No names were released.

Sheriff's officials say suspect and his wife, who lives out of state, are estranged.
