Accidents on state roads kill 2, hurt 3

Correction: Linda Jones, 61, was struck and killed Wednesday morning while she was moving a limb out of the roadway in Hot Spring County. Because of incorrect information in an Arkansas State Police report, her first name was incorrect in this article. The article also gave an incorrect age for Jones.

An Arkansas woman who exited her vehicle on U.S. 283 to move a tree limb was struck by a pickup and killed Wednesday morning, state police reported.

Lisa Jones, 52, was traveling southbound on the highway in Hot Spring County when she got out of her vehicle about 4:19 a.m. A Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the opposite direction entered the southbound lane to pass a stopped vehicle and struck Jones.

She was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center in Arkadelphia and pronounced dead.

Conditions were rainy and wet when the accident occurred, according to state police.

No charges had been filed against the Silverado driver, Melissa Hathcoat, late Wednesday. Hathcoat was not injured in the collision.

State police reported Tuesday that a man had been killed in a four-vehicle crash in Prescott.

Treviel Threadgill, 24, was driving eastbound on Interstate 30 when his 2012 Chrysler was struck by a tractor-trailer shortly after midnight. The tractor-trailer had just been struck by 2005 Ford after it slowed down because of traffic. A 2006 Chevrolet was also struck.

Threadgill, of Gurdon, was taken to UAMS Medical Center and pronounced dead at 8:15 p.m.

Three other people were hospitalized.

Conditions were clear and dry when the crash occurred, state police reported.
