Brave Combo, Kat Hood and Chuck Gilbert hit stage

The Denton, Texas, group -- known for its "nuclear polka" approach to reinterpreting music -- has released more than 40 albums and has played at many a venue in Arkansas. Founded by Carl Finch, a Texarkana native, the band now consists of Finch on accordion, guitar, keyboard and vocals; Jeffrey Barnes on woodwinds; Alan Emert on drums; Little Jack Melody on bass; and Danny O'Brien on trumpet.

Kat Hood and Chuck Gilbert, members of the classic rock band Katmandu, perform for Live at Laman, 7-8 p.m. today at the William F. Laman Public Library System's Main Library, 2801 Orange St., North Little Rock.

Hood and Gilbert occasionally perform Hood's original songs, plus selected Katmandu favorites, as an acoustic, unplugged duo.

PJ Morton, better known as the keyboardist in Maroon 5, will perform at 9 p.m. today at Juanita's.

Morton has released three solo albums since 2005 and three of his singles, "Heavy," "Lover" and "Only One" have featured, respectively, Adam Levine, Lil Wayne and Stevie Wonder. He began his Maroon 5 career as an additional member at live shows, then became a "fill-in" and finally a permanent member in 2012, contributing keyboards and vocals to Maroon 5's albums Overexposed in 2012 and V this year. Admission is $20.

Saturday, the club will feature Jason Michael Carroll at 10 p.m. Carroll, a North Carolina native who now lives in Texas, is the son of a conservative minister who spanked him when he found a copy of Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart" in his bedroom. Carroll has released three country albums, the latest of which, Numbers, came out in 2011.

Sunday, the club will present "An Evening With Slaid Cleaves" at 8 p.m. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 day of.

Cleaves grew up in Maine and now lives in Austin, Texas. He began releasing his music in the early 1990s, with four of his first five albums originally on cassette tapes. His latest album, Still Fighting the War, was released in 2013. The clear-voiced singer, with songs of working-class desperation, has cited Bruce Springsteen as an inspiration.

The Eastern Sea returns to Stickyz Rock 'n' Roll Chicken Shack at 9 p.m. today. The Austin-based indie rock band began as a project of singer-songwriter Matthew Hines, who later added additional musicians.

Wild Moccasins opens the show. Admission is $8.

Kingsdown will perform an acoustic show at 9 p.m. Saturday. The central Arkansas group is known for louder rock than it will play this weekend.

Tonight the Revolution Room will host Drummers in the House, with organizers promising three drum kits, eight drummers, three bucket players and a backing rhythm section.

Dumpstaphunk, a funky New Orleans-based band led by Ivan Neville, returns to central Arkansas for a show at 9 p.m. Friday. The Funkanites will open. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 day of show.

Saturday, the club will present At War's End, with opening acts Vail, Playing With Karma and The Jon Dunn Band.

Tickets are $10, $5 for members of the American Taekwondo Association, which is holding its World Expo in Little Rock this weekend.
