Pontoon gets stuck in Batesville hydro intake lock

BATESVILLE — Officials say no one was injured after a pontoon got stuck in the Batesville hydroelectric system intake lock.

Authorities tell the Batesville Guard that the boat slipped off its trailer as it was being loaded Monday afternoon at Kennedy Park. The pontoon, which had no passengers on board, later broke free of a safety line early Tuesday and headed down the White River.

Hydro manager John Stacy said the boat then went straight into the intake area, where it remained until crews pulled the pontoon out and returned it to its owner.

The pontoon suffered minor damage, and officials say no one will be cited in the incident.
