QuickBooks Workshop

RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will present a hands-on workshop, QuickBooks Day-to-Day Basics, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Arkansas Tech University. Participants will learn about the day-to-day features of QuickBooks, including accounts payable, deposits, sales receipts, accounts receivable, managing sales taxes and more. A basic working knowledge of QuickBooks is recommended to attend the seminar. A computer will be provided for each participant for use during the interactive session. The cost is $65 per person. Cleburne County Newcomers Meeting

HEBER SPRINGS — The Cleburne County Newcomers will meet at 10 a.m. in the First Electric Building on Industrial Road in Heber Springs. The speaker will be Sherry Farneth from Opal House, who will explain its ministry for single mothers. All are welcome, regardless of length of residency, to attend and meet new friends, learn more about the community and enjoy various activities. Concealed Handgun Carry Course

MAUMELLE — Safe Shooting Sports of Arkansas, LLC will conduct an Arkansas Concealed Handgun Carry License Course on Saturday at the Hampton Inn. The course includes a Free National Rifle Association Basic Pistol Shooting Course. Discounts are available for nurses and first responders. Adult Fall Softball League Registration

RUSSELLVILLE — Registration for the Russellville Recreation and Parks Department’s adult fall softball league will begin Monday and end July 25. Faulkner County Summer Concerts

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library announces its Summer Concert Series 2014, featuring local performers at 2 p.m. Sundays: Shannon Wurst, July 13; Jeff Clanton, July 20; the Conway Symphony Orchestra, July 27; The Boomers, Aug. 3; folksimile, Aug. 10; and Men of Fire, Aug. 17. RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center is presenting a Business Startup Boot Camp on Tuesday evenings in July. Augsburg Fall Fest Booth Applications

AUGSBURG — JoAnn Dorn, the arts, crafts and vendor booth chairwoman, is taking applications for booth spaces for the seventh annual Augsburg Fall Fest, to be held Oct. 11 at Zion Lutheran Church at the intersection of Arkansas 333 and Augsburg Road. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the River Valley Free Christian Clinic and the Augsburg Food Pantry.

Soccer Complex Temporary Closures

RUSSELLVILLE — The Russellville Recreation and Parks Department is working on repairing the fields at the Russellville Soccer Complex. While the repairs are underway, the complex will be closed at various times. When the complex is open, only the fields with goals will be available for use. Holiday Puppets Family Show

FAIRFIELD BAY — The Holiday Puppets will perform at 11 a.m. every Wednesday during the summer at the Puppet Playhouse in the post office building. The 45-minute show features Punch and Judy, Dudley the Magnificent Magician and The Cat Came Back shadow puppets. The family show is free and open to the public.

AARP Driver Safety Program

HEBER SPRINGS — There will be an AARP Driver Safety Program class from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 18 in the McCoy Room of the Administration/Student Services Building at Arkansas State University-Heber Springs. Individuals 55 or older who complete the course will qualify for a three-year discount on their automobile-insurance premiums in Arkansas. The cost of the course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. The fee may be paid in cash or by check, payable to AARP. Treasure Island the Musical

The Little Mermaid Jr.

LESLIE — Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. will be presented at 7 p.m. July 26 at the Ozark Heritage Arts Center. This children’s production is $5 for children 12 and younger, and $10 for adults. Arkansas Notary Workshop

RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will present two sessions of the Arkansas Notary Workshop on July 31 at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. Sessions will be from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Notaries verify signatures on legal and business documents to deter fraud and ensure the proper execution of these documents. The Arkansas Secretary of State’s Office will walk participants through the application process, assist them in understanding issues facing notaries, and outline best practices and procedures for current and future notaries public.
